Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day

On Thursday, September 28th, we invite our students & staff to wear an Orange Shirt in solidarity with Every Child Matters.  http://www.orangeshirtday.org/

Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.

Elder Berna Martin and Judy Whitford met with Northern Studies classes on September 26th to talk about the impact of residential school and how it altered identity for many northern people. They took time with our students to honour the residential school survivors and families in a school created project.

Tomorrow, an Orange Shirt Day banner will be hanging in the rock area. Our students will have an opportunity to write a message of remembrance, healing, reconciliation and hope on the post it notes that are left at the site.
