Health Behaviour in School-aged Children Study (HBSC)

Health Behaviour in School-aged Children Study (HBSC)

Dear Parents & Guardians of Grade 8, 9, 10,

Students across Canada in Grades 6 through 10 are participating in a World Health Organization (WHO) initiative surveying the health status of young people.  Queen's Univeristy does the data collection for Canada.  The purpose of the survey is to compare health and health behaviours of adolescents across time and across countries and provinces/territories.  This is the tenth international survey, with surveys occurring every four years.

On April 4th, our Grades 8-10 students will be taking a 60 minute survey.  A letter of information can be found here.  If you would like to excuse your child from writing it, please download the reverse consent form here and have your child return it to their period one teacher.

We look forward to participating in research which may benefit our students through identification of health issues and government responses to help improve them.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesittate to contact me at 867-873-4888 or  For more information about the HBSC please check out:

Sincerely yours,

Gillian Dawe-Taylor
